General Course Summary:

This course is an enrichment course, in which I get to share my strongest professional interest, a vocation and an avocation which brought me to Montana, and you get to learn all you wanted to know about glaciers, but didn't know who to ask! If approved, the class will meet in Room 204 Traphagen from 11:00 to 11:50 AM on Thursdays.

Course Format:

The class will meet once a week to discuss subtopics of interest in a framework following the organization of the text. I will often use slides and overheads to expand on issues introduced in the text or in class discussion. Please feel free to bring your own media, as appropriate. The "grading" of this class will be based on class attendance and completion of a course project of your choosing. The project could entail (as examples):

The projects will be due at the last class, and will be available for class inspection at that time (no postponements!). We will have an optional fieldtrip in late October/early November - probably to the Paradise Valley - to look at examples of mountain glaciation, outlet glaciers, and glacial stream landforms.
