Great Falls is the second largest city in Montana, after Billings. Named for a series of falls on the Missouri River first discovered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, many of which no longer exist today as seen then because of damming of the river.
January 4-25 -- Get in to the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive center every Sunday in January: the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th.

January 22-February 26 -- An annual film festival hosted by the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center. Films will be shown at 7:00 PM every Thursday evening for the duration.

March 17-21 -- The Western Heritage Artist Association Art Show is an annual event that occurs on the third Wednesday in March each year. Beginning Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM with a reception and awards presentation, the show itself is from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Thursday through Saturday and 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. There are also numerous special events every day of the show, including demonstrations, giveaways, seminars, and entertainment.

April 4 -- An introduction to nine major arts and cultural centers, along with assorted afternoon activities and treasure hunts. Admission is free to all nine museums.

June 25-29 -- An annual event in Great Falls for the past 14 years! Activites are extremely varied and include: lectures, float trips, guided walks, games for kids, re-enactments, period food, and much more!

June 1-July 4 -- A month long festival, celebrating the lifestyle and traditions of the Plains Indians past and present, reliving the stuggles of camp life along the Missouri River, showcasing the pristine beauty of Big Sky country as seen by the Lewis and Clark expidition. Other activities include musical entertainment such as a ballet, old time fiddlers, and community concerts.
