This exercise examines the local nature of landslide hazards.
As a team of two, select a place of interest, for which you will determine the hazard of "mass movement" - landslides and associated activity (liquefaction, subsidence). List that place in as much detail as possible: ____________________________________ [NOTE: The US Land Office grid - townships, ranges, sections, 1/4 sections.. - might come in handy here!]
List the steps you would follow to determine the landslide hazard associated with your site. You might need some help with this - but from whom? The USGS? FEMA? CA Division of Mines and Geology? Your call!
EXAMPLE: Locate the site on a detailed topographic map to determine the site slope and direction.
| Step # | Activity |

(NOTE: Continue on reverse if additional steps seem necessary!)
Follow those steps which are available to you using the Web, Renne Library, the Map Library... Determine, to the best of your ability the mass movement hazard associated with your site.
