STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Shibata Masateru “Masa”

A recent graduate student in the paleontology program under Dr. David J. Varricchio, Masa was recently hired as a researcher at the prestigious Fukui Prefecture Dinosaur Museum in Katsuyama Japan (http://www.dinosaur.pref.fukui.jp/en/). The FPDM is known for having some of the most extensive dinosaur exhibit space in the world, and for a high level of paleontology research in Japan.

While at MSU Earth Sciences, Masa served as the Vertebrate Paleontology Collections Manager, and conducted research on the walking traces of Limulus and pterosaurs from the Two Medicine Formation.

We wish him great future success, and look forward to future research collaboration between MSU and our Japanese colleague.
